Nature of the Work

These sculptures combine historical accuracy with the meticulous attention to detail of the medieval artisan. Sources range from medieval seals, brasses, and effigies to the 13th , 14th and 15th century armorial rolls such as those containing the "Knights Of The Golden Fleece".

Production is limited because of the fine detailed work which goes into the creation of each piece. They are hand cast in fine pewter. The effect of the highly polished armor is created through the use of many of the same techniques employed in quality jewelry. The brilliant color of the heraldry is produced with three or four coats of enamel or in the case of the gold, through the use of twentythree carat gold leaf. The striking effect of the heraldic devices is acheived by outlining them with a chisel thin black line. Mounting the sculpture on a quality finished hardwood base completes the work as an outstanding collector's piece. Each is signed, numbered and dated. A signed biographical statement on the knight giving the edition number is also included.
